When Were Tombstones First Used?

The first tombstones were used by Bushmen and other primitive tribes in Africa. They believed that there were evil spirits living in the bodies of the dead people. By placing heavy stones on the graves they hoped to prevent these spirits from rising.
But the making of the graves in some way goes back to very ancient times. Primitive man placed stones or to her markings on graves not only to keep the evil spirits from rising, but to mark the spot so he could avoid it.
The ancient Greeks used gravestones, and they were usually ornamented with sculpture. The Hebrews marked the graves of the dead with stone pillars. And, of course, the Egyptians marked the places where the dead were buried with tombs and pyramids.
Different peoples used different things for this purpose. Some built vaults, others erected tall pillars of ornamented stone. Some marked their graves with simple slabs of wood or stone; others built magnificent shrines and mausoleums. As Christianity spread, the marking of graves became common. The cross over the grave was the most popular grave mark among Christians.
Decorating graves with flowers and wreaths is a custom that goes back to ancient times, too. The Greeks used wreaths made of gold. During the early days Christianity a custom started of making wreaths of ribbon and paper and giving them to the church as a memento of the person who died. These wreaths would be hung around the walls of the church and stay there for years and years.

Milk: When Were Cows First Used For Milk?

Early records often mention man's use of milk and milk products, and cow were used for milk long before any records were kept.
A temple that was discovered near Babylon has a scene on one of the walls that shows a cow being milked. This temple is thought to be five thousand years old.
Instead of milking cows from right side, as is done today, the man is milking the cows from behind. The milker sits on milking stool. Other men are straining the milk into a container on the ground. A third group collects the strained milk in large stone jars. So it seems that the business of getting milk from cows was pretty organized five thousand years ago.
Today the cow of the goat are the major animals supply milk for human use. But in various parts of the world people use milk from other animals that are native to their homelands. For example, in Asia the camel, the horse, and the yak are sources of milk. Eskimos and Laplanders use the caribou and the reindeer. Water buffalo are used in India and central Asia. And sheep are used in Europe and Asia to provide milk for human use.
Milk contains several hundred different chemical parts, but it is best known for its calcium, phosphorus, an protein. Since milk is easily digested, the calcium, phosphorus, and protein, and other materials can be quickly and effectively used by the body. Milk sugar (lactose) and the major milk protein, casein, are found only in milk.

Comic Books: Who Invented Comic Books?

The comic strip is usually found in daily newspapers. it is made up of three or four picture panels telling story with one or more characters. Comic books are extensions of comic strips into magazine is about one set of characters and the pictures tell a complete story.
While the first newspaper comic strip appeared in 1892, it was not until 1911 that the entire publication was devoted to comics-a comic book. That year the Chicago American offered reprints of Bud Fisher's "Mutt and Jeff" in pamphlet form.
Some present-day comics originate with strip cartoons in newspapers. If these cartoons become very popular then collections of them are published. But more often, now, comic books are published at regular intervals, usually weekly or monthly.
Comic books are not all humorous stories. The types of comic books issued include: adventure, animal, biography, detective, fantasy-mystery, history, humor, military, religion, romance, satire, science-fiction, teen-age, and western.
Some types, such as adventure and humor, sell better, so there are more of them. The popularity of comic books, however, has led all kinds of groups to use comic books to tell a story. Many companies use comic books to tell the story behind a product or the history of their company. Comic books are also published to explain complicated subjects, to dramatize public needs, or to give the history of a particular event. So "comic books" can be as variety as the subject matter and the purpose behind them.

Typewriters: Why are the keys on a Typewriter arranged that way?

The  modern typewriter is a complicated piece if machinery. Development to it present form took many years, and many people contributed to it. Inventors had been thinking about a machine for writing since the early  in 18th century. But it was not until 1867 that first practical model was built, by Christopher Sholes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Shole's machine was called the Type-Writer. People did not seem too interested in typewriting at first. The popularity of typewriters began to grow, however, in the early 1880's. And changes improvements kept being introduced all the time.
But the odd arrangement of typewriter keys has never been improved. This arrangement was the one used by the typewriter's original designer. Some typewriter designers believe that the keys could be arranged more efficiently. They have tried to make such changes in typewriters, but they have not been successful. it seems that the public is used to the keyboard the way it is and wants no change.
The arrangement of the keys is practically the same on all makes of typewriters. The common arrangement of the letters of the alphabet is known as the "universal" keyboard.
Some experts claim that this arrangement is actually a very good one. They say that the letters which occur together most often are placed so that the operator's fingers reach them successively in the most natural way.

10 Super A Grade Breakfast for School Day Mornings

Gone are the days when you rushed out the house with just a Bagel or toaster strudel ---or worse yet nothing! A balanced breakfast provides positive benefits and results for school age children, from increased concentration to improved energy in their class. Of course, it's not easy to master an elaborate breakfast on a groggy Wednesday morning. Here are my recommendations for your morning meal planning with healthy, fast breakfast ideas that lots of moms swear by including myself.
  1. Breakfast Sandwiches: If your kids are like my nieces, if they prefer to eat on their way to school, a healthy breakfast sandwich is a pleasing art. I would normally cook up some turkey sausage patties over the weekend (enough for the following week) then all I have to do is pop them in the microwave for a few seconds while I'm toasting whole wheat English muffins and fixing a couple eggs. Then make breakfast sandwich out of it. This is by far my nieces favorites. It's healthy and it give them a great start for the day.

2. Fruit Smoothie: Combining frozen and fresh fruit with yogurt or milk in the blender give rise to a quick and fast breakfast that delivers both solid nutrition and delightful sweet flavor. I usually give my nieces a smoothie shake with milk, fruit etc.....they love it. Couple seconds in the magic bullet blender! I guarantee it is so quick and easy! Fruit smoothies can be made in large batches to save for another breakfast. Another thing about smoothies that it's great if you make extra you can pour the rest into ice pop mold, then the kids think they are getting a great treat for breakfast. I usually use fat-free French vanilla yogurt and frozen strawberries.

3. whole Grain or Veggie Pancake: Pancakes are really quick to make, you can trust me on that. Advance preparation turn pancakes into a one minute meal especially on weekday mornings. You can make them up early and freeze them. Pop it into the microwave for one minute and you have a hot healthy breakfast. To top off the meal, toss a handful of fruits on top such as banana, blueberries, strawberries, go easy and light on the syrup.
Whole wheat pancakes aren't the only healthy pancakes for your kids. For the older kids you can make veggies pancakes that taste fantastic. You can make beet, sweet potato and butternut squash. You can make large batches and freeze them up so they always at hand when needed.

4. Yogurt Parfaits: Granola and yogurt with berries is my choice and the choice of many other moms. This winning combination and be easily adjusted with various fruits, yogurt flavors, nuts and grains to keep it interesting. This is another option; Greek yogurt with a couple of spoons of oatmeal or granola cereal, walnut and honey drizzle on top. Yea, that's what I said too, yummy!
_______________________________________________________________
5. Oatmeal or Whole Grain Cereal with Fruit: Even though many cereals are loaded with sugar (which I am concerned about), whole grain cereals serve with fruit and milk are extremely healthy for kids even adults. One recommendation is multi grain cereal serve with a fruit, usually strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, bananas and clementines for breakfast. Oatmeal is very nourishing, easy and not to mention affordable, try sprinkling with cinnamon and adding berries, almonds or slice bananas.
6. Peanut Butter and Banana on Toast: I strongly recommend this nutritious combination of protein, fruit and whole grain, just right to start your day. I do my favorite with peanut butter and sliced bananas on whole grain toast and milk. My nieces love it. I usually toast a Nutri-Grain Waffle, slice it in half and put peanut butter on it. I put the sides together as a sandwich, that and a banana very easy and tasty.
_______________________________________________________________
7. Breakfast Burritos: You can wrap your scramble in a whole wheat tortilla or something else you prefer for another meal your child can eat on the go (my son is always on the go). Scramble eggs, cheese and onions, mushroom, meat, etc. and put it in a tortilla for a breakfast burrito.
_______________________________________________________________
8. Scramble Omelette: Eggs are fill with protein and good for breakfast. While stove cooking may sound ambitious for a rushed morning (which I love to do), pre- cut veggies (dice them all on Sunday) and pre-shredded cheese in the fridge, cooking them should take only five minutes.
_______________________________________________________________
9. Forget Traditional Breakfast Foods: Got healthy leftovers from last night dinner? (I usually do) You don't have to stick to the traditional breakfast foods, really. One thing you must learn that if the kids really like something that's healthy for them even if it's not traditional give it to them. Hey, no rule says you cannot give them tuna or fish sandwich in the mornings if they like it and want to ea it.
10. Quiche: My nieces love quiche, a little whole grain, veggies and protein, it's fantastic. A healthy quiche can be made on Sunday and microwave by the slice of school mornings. Fantastic huh????
Even with all my recommendations, some may work for your kids or all would or neither would. You know your child best, you do what is nutritious for them and at the same time something they love.
